When I was a kid, I loved the movie “Follow That Bird”. I don’t remember much about the plot, but I think the other Sesame Street characters are trying to find/rescue (or both) Big Bird.
Yesterday was a different kind of Follow That Bird. Or should I say – Follow That Turkey.
Our turkey was actually imported from the US…
Macy sat quietly (amazing) in her high chair after breakfast while Daddy oiled down the turkeys.
Turkey number one goes into the oven.
Turkey number two makes it in. We actually inherited both of these ovens…this is the first time we’ve used them both at the same time. You’ll notice they are (quite) a bit smaller than ovens in the States. Each of our turkeys weighed about 12 pounds.
Macy helps Daddy snap green beans.
Turkey number one comes out of the oven.
Jeff works on pulling apart the meat.
And the food makes it to the table!
We had 14 adults and 5 kids for our Thanksgiving feast – representing four different continents and three (or four if you count Australian :)) languages. The menu included: turkey, gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, rolls, deviled eggs, cheese tray, veggie tray, and sweet tea. Desserts included: pecan pie, pumpkin cheesecake, cranberry and white chocolate cookies, orange balls, blueberry pie, and coffee. Not a bad lunch.
Continuing to follow that bird…
Right into the fridge! I see a leftover night in our future…
