Fake Camping

I’ve written a bit about my (ahem) lack of love for the outdoors.  But, over the course of time, and with the addition of two children, the outdoors is doing its best to snuggle up to me.  I’m not saying we’re BFF or anything, but we’re at least trying to make nice.

One trip that helps the outdoors seem especially friendly is the trip to Wimberley, Texas.  Of course, I’ve been told that this is fake camping because we sleep inside cabins.  Hey – at least it’s in the realm of camping.  🙂  Jeff’s family goes to Wimberley every year over the last weekend of spring break.  It is pure joy for my Macy girl.  She is outside from the minute she wakes up to the minute she falls asleep.  Combine that with her cousins, a couple of playgrounds, time at the river and s’mores and I just don’t think it could get any better.

It was Selah’s first trip (last year around this time, Jeff’s parents were over on the east side visiting us) and I’d venture to say she’s a pretty big fan too.  She added another word to her repertoire – stick! – and got to practice a few others – uh oh!  duck!  I can’t believe how big she is getting.

I didn’t carry my camera around nearly enough and therefore missed out on a lot of great shots.  But we had a lot of fun catching up with everyone and playing with the kiddos.  In the ten years or so (gasp!) that I’ve been hanging out with this family, we’ve added four new grandchildren on our side and two new ones for Jeanette’s brother.  So fun to watch them all play together.

Selah!  Don’t eat the stick!

After all that playing, the girls were tired…

Night, night girls

All of us on the last night there…

Until next year.  🙂
